Skylight Celebrating the Grand Opening Ceremony for Its First 1 MW Rooftop Solar System at Dinsen’s Factory

01/04/2019

(BCG Energy) On January 4th, 2019, Skylight Power, a joint venture between BCG Energy and Indefol, has celebrated the Grand Opening Ceremony for its first 1 MW rooftop solar system installed at Dinsen’s factory in Long An Province. Regarding this project, Skylight Power has worked closely with reliable partners such as GIZ (Germany) and Indefol for construction solutions, Adidas for coordination, and HD Bank for financing.

This is in fact the largest rooftop solar project installed for an apparel factory and the second largest project among factories in general across Vietnam. The completion of 1 MW rooftop solar system at Dinsen in Long An Province marks an important milestone for Skylight Power and thus gives the company a positive momentum to deploy another 5.4 MW for other Dinsen factories located in Vietnam and Cambodia until October 2019. As a result, Dinsen should be able to enjoy significant savings from its electricity bill for the next 20 years.

With a total investment of more than 7 million USD, this project is carried out with Australian solar standards and European quality assurance in mind. The whole system is comprised of top-notch equipment including 100 KW cloud-based inverters from ABB Group which is a leading supplier of energy technology in Italy, 144-cell MonoPerc panels from JA Solar, and the mounting structure from Schletter in Germany. In addition, the project also utilizes SCADA as a control system for monitoring and collecting data throughout the entire operation process. All power generated will mostly be used for internal production at Dinsen’s factory, while surplus will be transmitted to the National Grid.

By co-launching the first rooftop solar system, BCG Energy and Indefol are looking forward to establishing a modern and reasonable solar energy model which is capable of optimizing construction area for maximum returns and could be applied to both industrial plants and residential households.

For Dinsen, this opportunity does not only mark a crucial milestone towards the company’s sustainability but also brings out substantial values, including emission reduction of 25,000 tons of CO2 during 25 years of project life. Moreover, it helps the factory reduce a significant amount of heat absorbed from its rooftop and thus lowers the overall temperature and saves on electricity bill.

BCG Energy is a subsidiary of Bamboo Capital Group (BCG). BCG specialises in 4 areas including Agriculture & Manufacturing, Construction & Trading, Infrastructure & Real Estate Development, and Renewable Energy. BCG, with its strong financial and fund raising capabilities, has deployed a variety of solar projects in 2018. At the moment, BCG Energy is working on medium and large-scale solar projects in Long An Province, such as the 100 MW GAIA project, the 50 MW Sunflower project, and the 40 MW BCG – VOI power plant that has already broken ground in Thanh Hoa District by September. In the future, BCG expects to expand its pipeline in Quang Nam Province with two gigantic floating solar projects on Phu Ninh and Khe Tan lakes, with a total capacity of up to 400 MW.

Indefol was founded by a group of talented alumni from the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City, with a vision to overcome difficulties resulted from fossil energy shortages. Indefol is the pioneer of providing solutions for wind and solar energy in South East Asia, and happens to be the only company in Vietnam to receive an Australian solar certificate granted by GSES. Indefol is also the first company in South East Asia to come up with its own design, production, and assembly of low voltage wind generators. The company has successfully collaborated with the University of Technology to produce the very first wind turbine in Vietnam based on IEC61400 standard, accompanied by German vacuum technology. The upcoming wind projects in Vietnam are therefore expected to be very promising and domestically controlled in the near future.
