Besides that, rooftop solar system makes use of the existing grid; generates electricity mainly during the day which is mainly peak hours of the power system, thus, it helps reduce load peaks; takes advantage of roof space in residential areas, businesses that grid infrastructure is available and convenient for connection so it is not affect the land use planning and plans. The MoIT launched the developing renewable energy program with the target to have 100,000 rooftop solar systems, equivalent to 1,000 MW of capacity put into operational stage nationwide.
In 2020, BCG Energy has launched and put into operational stage a number of rooftop solar projects which located in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Lam Dong, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh,… with the total capacity up-to 43 MW. Along with that, the Company currently has a 100 MW in the pipeline which is ready to be developed. BCG Energy aims to have 500 MW of rooftop solar energy reached COD in the period of 2020 – 2024.
