About 88 solar and wind power plants will be integrated into the national grid this June, the renewable energy industry in Vietnam is ready in its initial form. So, who are the leading enterprises in renewable energy?
Bamboo Capital Group
Since 2017, Bamboo Capital Group (BCG) has included solar energy in its strategic investment. In the AGM 2018, Mr. Nguyen Ho Nam - Chairman of BCG stated: “Currently, renewable energy is the cheapest energy on the planet. Renewable energy is secure and sustainable energy and brings high economic efficiency".
The first solar power plant of BCG in Long An was started to build on September 16th, 2018. This is BCG Bang Duong solar power plant owned by BCG Bang Duong Energy Joint Stock Company (affiliate of BCG).
BCG currently has 3 solar power projects in Long An province: BCG Bang Duong (with a capacity of 40.6 MWp), GAIA with 1st phase of 30 MWp (total capacity of 100.4 MWp), both are in the implementation and will be in operation before June 2019; and the third one is Sunflower with a capacity of 50 MWp which has been approved for investment policy and is being submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for appraisal. The total investment of these 3 projects is about VND 4,400 billion.
BCG is also working wind power project (45 MWp) at No. 17 in Tran De district - Soc Trang province, and floating solar project in Quang Nam (large capacity - around 100 MWp), solar power project in Ben Tre province...
According to BCG, although the profit of renewable energy sector is only about 6% to 7% annually, but this profit is quite stable. In the future, we commit to provide about 2,000 MWp of solar power/wind power to the Vietnam market and then could go over the world if mastering the technology.
